Israeli warplanes launch two raids on Lebanon's Nabatieh area

Israeli warplanes launched two raids on the Ali Taher heights on the northern outskirts of the town of Nabatieh al-Fouqa at 6:45 am local time, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA). The raids were part of ongoing cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

Additionally, artillery fire from last night until dawn targeted the outskirts of Doha Kafr Rumman, the vicinity of Tell al-Dabsha, and Harj Ali al-Taher, using phosphorus shells. The use of phosphorus munitions has raised concerns due to their incendiary effects.

The NNA report did not mention any casualties or damage from the raids. The strikes come amid heightened tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, with frequent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict in October 2023.

Hezbollah, a Shia militant group backed by Iran, has been launching rockets and drones into northern Israel, while Israel has responded with airstrikes and artillery bombardments on southern Lebanon. The situation has led to displacement of civilians on both sides of the border.

According to Mehr News Agency, which cited the NNA, the latest raids are part of the ongoing escalation. The report added that the Israeli military has intensified its operations against what it describes as Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
