Iran Official Says Israeli Nuclear Arsenal Cannot Be Ignored on Disarmament Day

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, said on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons that the international community faces a clear question about disarmament while Israel's nuclear arsenal remains unaddressed.

In a message posted on social media, Gharibabadi wrote, "On the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, a clear question faces the international community: how can one speak of disarmament while ignoring the nuclear arsenal of the Zionist regime?!" He added that "disarmament, peace and global security cannot be achieved with double standards and impunity for a particular regime."

The remarks were reported by Mehr News Agency (MNA). Gharibabadi's statement reflects Iran's long-standing position that Israel's undeclared nuclear capabilities should be subject to international scrutiny, a point Iranian officials have raised repeatedly at international forums. The International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is observed annually to promote the goal of eliminating nuclear weapons worldwide.

According to Mehr News, Gharibabadi's message emphasized that achieving disarmament, peace and global security requires consistent standards rather than exemptions for specific states.
