Israeli military forces shelled towns in southern Lebanon overnight, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported. According to the agency, the towns of Barashit and Kounine were attacked during the night. Heavy machine-gun fire was also directed towards Beit Yahoun in the Bint Jbeil district, the report said.

The NNA account did not specify casualties or the extent of the damage in the affected areas. No immediate comment from Israeli officials was included in the report.

The shelling comes amid a wider displacement crisis in Lebanon linked to Israeli attacks and occupation. At its highest point in April, more than 1.2 million people had been displaced, according to figures cited in the report. The International Organization for Migration now puts the number of displaced at about 330,000, indicating that many residents have returned or been relocated since the peak, though a substantial population remains uprooted.

The report did not provide further details on the circumstances of the overnight shelling or on any military activity by Hezbollah in the same period. Southern Lebanon has seen repeated exchanges of fire and Israeli operations in recent months, and the Bint Jbeil district has been among the areas affected.

According to Mehr News, citing the National News Agency, the towns of Barashit and Kounine were shelled overnight and heavy machine-gun fire was directed at Beit Yahoun in the Bint Jbeil district, while about 330,000 people remain displaced from their homes according to the International Organization for Migration.
