Israeli drone strikes vehicle in southern Lebanon, wounding two

An Israeli drone struck a vehicle in the town of Seddiqine in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon overnight, wounding two people, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA).

The NNA reported that the drone hit the vehicle in a first strike, followed quickly by a second strike on the same area. The consecutive strikes left two individuals wounded. The report did not provide further details on the condition of the wounded or the identity of the vehicle's occupants.

The incident comes amid ongoing tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, with frequent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah. The region has seen increased hostilities since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza in October 2023.

According to the Mehr News Agency, the Israeli regime has conducted numerous drone strikes and artillery attacks on southern Lebanon, targeting what it claims are Hezbollah positions. Hezbollah, a Shia militant group backed by Iran, has been engaged in cross-border attacks against Israeli military positions in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

The Lebanese government has repeatedly condemned Israeli violations of its sovereignty and called for international intervention to stop the aggression. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has urged restraint on both sides to prevent a wider conflict.
