Senior officials from Iran and Pakistan are set to meet on Tuesday and Wednesday (4–5 August) for the next round of Joint Trade Committee discussions in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. Seyyed Mohammad Atabak, Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, is expected to travel to Islamabad at the head of a delegation to attend the meeting. The Iranian delegation will include senior trade and economic officials.
The committee meeting is expected to discuss key priorities such as progress on a free trade agreement between the two countries, more facilitated transit operations, and stronger border infrastructure between Iran and Pakistan. These discussions are part of ongoing efforts to boost trade volumes and improve economic ties.
According to Mehr News Agency, the two-day meeting will focus on practical steps to remove trade barriers and enhance cooperation in various sectors. The outcomes of the meeting are anticipated to include agreements on streamlining customs procedures and increasing border market activities.
