IRGC Spokesman Publishes Open Letter to the American People

Spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, announced the publication of an open letter addressed to the American people, including scientists, university students and lecturers, as well as media personnel. In the letter, the IRGC emphasized that Americans can live peacefully with Iran if they separate themselves from the Israeli regime, and stressed that the occupiers of Palestine will have to leave and return to their countries.

The letter stated that seven months ago the United States military launched what it described as an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, in violation of international law, by attacking Minab Elementary School and killing 168 schoolchildren, while simultaneously attacking the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and killing family members, including his 14-month-old grandchild. According to the letter, during the conflict more than 3,600 people, predominantly civilians including 400 children, were killed, and eight universities, three hospitals, and eight schools were bombed. The IRGC said that despite these acts, the United States and Israel suffered a defeat while the Islamic Revolution achieved a victory.

The open letter posed a series of questions to the American public, asking why Iran emerged victorious while the US military, with an annual budget a hundred times that of Iran's Armed Forces and far greater weaponry, was defeated; whether Iranians harbor hostility toward the American people; why Iranians chant "Death to America" if not; whether the US government's designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization is accurate; why US efforts over 48 years to regain dominance over the Iranian people have failed; why the US government is declining under its current trajectory; what the future of the war will be; and how the American people can save themselves from the consequences of what the letter called unjust aggressions and escape a looming collapse.

The letter also stated that throughout the history of America's wars, truth has been the first casualty and the American people have been the perpetual victims, adding that American taxpayers pay the bill for these wars and therefore have a right to know the facts being kept from them. It suggested that if Americans doubt the sincerity of the letter, they can take a short trip to any part of Iran, even the Strait of Hormuz, to personally verify the statements. The letter was released amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States. According to Mehr News, the IRGC spokesman made the announcement during a press briefing on Tuesday.
