IRGC strikes US facilities in Iraq's Erbil

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that it had targeted American bases in Erbil, Iraq, using missiles and drones. The attack, carried out by the IRGC's ground forces, destroyed a repair center and warehouses containing technical equipment, and set fuel tanks ablaze. According to the IRGC statement, a number of "aggressors" were killed in the operation.

The IRGC said the attack was retaliation for a recent US assault on a wedding ceremony in the town of Sirik in southern Iran, where around 70 people were killed or wounded. The statement claimed that four guests, including a child, were martyred in that incident. It also referenced earlier US strikes on Minab and Lamerd, asserting that nearly 200 children had been killed in those two locations.

The IRGC statement emphasized that "these pure blood demands revenge" and added that "the time for the end of the domination of the hated and savage American regime has come." It also urged the people of Iraq's Kurdistan Region not to allow their territory to become a launchpad for such crimes.

The attack marks a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, with the IRGC directly targeting US forces in Iraq. The US has not yet officially responded to the attack. According to Mehr News, the IRGC's statement did not specify the exact number of casualties among US personnel, but it described the operation as successful in destroying equipment and infrastructure.
