IRGC Navy Reaffirms Single Open Route in Strait of Hormuz

In a statement on Monday, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy once again warned vessels that the designated navigation corridor, located south of Larak Island, remains the only approved route for transiting the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz into the Sea of Oman. The force emphasized that it continues to oversee compliance with these navigation procedures.

The IRGC Navy's announcement reiterates its strict control over maritime traffic in the strategic waterway, which is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, and about one-fifth of the world's oil passes through it.

According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), the IRGC Navy's statement serves as a stark warning to all vessels operating in the region. The force has previously taken measures to enforce navigation rules, including inspections and, in some cases, seizures of ships violating regulations.

The designated corridor is intended to ensure safe passage and prevent collisions or other incidents in the busy waterway. The IRGC Navy's monitoring activities are part of Iran's broader efforts to maintain security and sovereignty in its territorial waters.
