The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Saturday that it had carried out a coordinated missile and drone strike on the US base in Al-Azraq, Jordan. The operation, designated as the 20th wave of Operation Nasr 2, targeted fighter aircraft shelters and a large aircraft parking apron at the installation. The pre-dawn attack was executed by the IRGC Aerospace Force under the codename "Ya Abolfazl al-Abbas."
The IRGC stated that the strike was a direct response to recent US military actions targeting Iranian civilian infrastructure. According to the IRGC's statement, the high-volume barrage completely destroyed at least two US fighter jets and three additional aircraft, while causing severe structural damage to several other military assets parked at the base.
The military statement accused American forces of committing war crimes, including destructive strikes on hospitals, bridges, railways, ports, and airports, as well as killing civilians to mask their battlefield setbacks. The IRGC further claimed that the US army is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, the Philippines, and Palestine. The statement called for the elimination of US forces and the cleansing of Jordan from what it described as murderers of oppressed Muslims.
According to Mehr News, the attack was launched as part of ongoing operations by the IRGC against US military presence in the region. The report did not provide any immediate confirmation from US officials regarding the extent of damage or casualties.
