The Ground Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a military parade to mark Sacred Defense Week, according to Mehr News. The event is part of the annual commemorations held in Iran to honor the sacrifices made during the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s.
As part of the program, a group of motorcyclists from the Islamic Republic of Iran Motorcycle Federation and the IRGC Ground Force are set to travel a route beginning in Tehran and passing through Qom, Arak, and Khandab before reaching the village of Dehsad-e Khandab. The riders will pay tribute to the former IRGC Chief Commander, martyr Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour.
Sacred Defense Week is observed annually in Iran to commemorate the eight-year conflict with Iraq, which began in September 1980. The week typically features military parades, exhibitions, and ceremonies across the country. The IRGC Ground Forces regularly participate in these events, displaying equipment and honoring fallen commanders.
Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour served as the chief commander of the IRGC Ground Forces before his death. He is remembered as a martyr in official Iranian commemorations. The motorcycle journey from Tehran to Dehsad-e Khandab is intended as a tribute to his service and sacrifice.
The report by Mehr News did not provide further details on the scale of the parade or additional events scheduled during the week. The news agency, identified by the code MNA/6955812, said the motorcyclists and IRGC Ground Force personnel would travel the specified route to the village in Markazi province.
