The commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Brigadier General Ali Abdollahi, issued a statement on Tuesday warning that Israel's continued violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon and its expansion of military operations against the Lebanese population constitute a crossing of all red lines. He accused Israel of using prohibited weapons, including phosphorus bombs, and described these actions as war crimes.
According to Abdollahi, despite previous warnings from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel expanded its operations and targeted Beirut's southern suburbs (Dahiyeh). The commander noted that Iran had previously warned that any expansion of military operations in Beirut's southern suburbs would lead to strikes against targets in the occupied territories.
Abdollahi further stated that the Israeli military must halt its attacks on southern Lebanon and Dahiyeh. He warned that any further escalation in the area, or any response to Iranian retaliation, would be met with stronger and more consequential strikes. The commander added that wider military operations against Israel and its supporters would follow if the situation continued to escalate.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions following recent Israeli airstrikes on Dahiyeh, which killed several people. The IRGC general's remarks underscore Iran's readiness to respond forcefully to any perceived aggression against its interests or allies in the region.
According to Mehr News Agency, the warning was issued as part of Iran's ongoing stance against Israeli actions in Lebanon and the broader region. The report by Mehr added that the IRGC remains vigilant and prepared to defend against any threats.
