SaveIRGC strikes US command center at Jordan base with ballistic missiles
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday that its aerospace forces had struck the U.S. Prince Hassan airbase in Jordan with ballistic missiles, destroying the base's command and control center and MQ-9 Reaper drone hangars. The attack was described as the first phase of "a crushing response to U.S. attacks" on Iran's southern coast.
The IRGC stated that the American military had launched air strikes on coastal bases and telecommunications towers in southern Iran after Iranian forces blocked an attempt to direct several vessels through an illegal route south of the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC statement accused the United States of imposing its will on the Sultanate of Oman and trying to "test what has already been tested."
The IRGC warned that continued U.S. aggression would be met with "harsher responses." The attack marks a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, with the IRGC directly targeting a U.S. military installation in Jordan.
According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), the IRGC's statement emphasized that the operation was a direct retaliation for American strikes on Iranian infrastructure. The report by MNA added that the IRGC's aerospace forces successfully hit the intended targets, causing substantial damage to the base's military infrastructure.
