The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that it attacked a US unmanned vessel near the Strait of Hormuz. In its 11th statement on the matter, the IRGC Navy said the remotely operated vessel belonged to the "terrorist American army" and was attempting to enter the protected zone of the Strait of Hormuz when it came under attack.
The IRGC Navy stated that any desperate movement by the enemy is under the watch of its fighters and will be firmly attacked. It emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway, is under the management of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and any movement by the "child-killing enemy" will be decisively confronted.
The statement further warned: "America must know it has no path other than to leave the region and stop its mischief." No further details on damage or casualties were provided.
According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), the incident underscores ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States in the strategic waterway, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass. The IRGC has previously threatened to disrupt shipping in the Strait in response to hostile actions by the US and its allies.
