Iraqi Resistance Group Vows Revenge for US-Saudi Strikes on PMF

In a statement, Akram al-Kaabi, the leader of an Iraqi resistance group, said that diplomacy with Saudi Arabia is "futile" and that it must be disciplined "through a suitable military response" to avenge the strikes on the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). "Missiles can only be countered with missiles, and fire can only be met with fire," he said, as reported by Al Jazeera.

The United States Central Command and Saudi Arabia announced last month that they had conducted joint air strikes targeting PMF sites. The PMF reported that at least 20 of its members were killed and 32 others wounded in the strikes.

The statement underscores the heightened tensions in the region following the attacks, with the Iraqi resistance group vowing retaliation. The PMF, also known as the Popular Mobilization Units, is an Iraqi state-sponsored umbrella organization composed of various militias, many of which are backed by Iran.

The strikes and the subsequent threats of revenge come amid ongoing friction between Iran and the United States, with Saudi Arabia often aligning with Washington. The incident is likely to further strain relations and could lead to an escalation of hostilities in the region.

According to Mehr News Agency, the report by Al Jazeera added that al-Kaabi's remarks reflect a hardline stance against Saudi Arabia, dismissing any diplomatic efforts as ineffective. The PMF has previously been targeted in similar strikes, and this latest incident adds to the cycle of violence that has plagued the region.
