Iraqi Kurdish Delegation to Visit Iran for Security Talks

An Iraqi Kurdish delegation, headed by Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, is set to visit Iran, according to Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Mohammad al-Sadeq. The delegation will include the Interior Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and a representative from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The visit aims to enforce the existing Iran-Iraq security pact, which addresses border security and the presence of separatist groups. Ambassador al-Sadeq emphasized that Baghdad and the KRG must fully implement the agreement by either extraditing or expelling "separatist terrorist groups" operating from the Kurdistan Region.

This development underscores ongoing efforts to enhance regional security cooperation between Iran and Iraq. The security pact, signed earlier, requires both sides to prevent cross-border threats. The delegation's visit is expected to discuss concrete steps to neutralize groups that Iran considers a threat to its national security.

According to Mehr News Agency, the Iraqi side has shown willingness to cooperate, and the visit is part of a series of diplomatic engagements to solidify the security arrangement. The outcome of the talks could have implications for stability in the border areas between Iran and the Kurdistan Region.
