Major General Mohsen Rezaei, former chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), warned on Monday that Iran's patience has limits. In a post on X, he addressed the escalating situation in Lebanon and the US naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz. "The Strait of Hormuz is under Iran's control. We will not allow the naval blockade to continue, and will not tolerate the escalation of tensions in Lebanon," he said, as reported by Press TV. Rezaei emphasized that the patience of Iran's Armed Forces has limits.
The remarks come as Israel has intensified its attacks on Lebanon, and the US continues naval operations near the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report, the US-Israeli aggression against Iran began on February 28. In response, Iran targeted sensitive American and Israeli targets across the region and restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz. On April 8, a ceasefire brokered by Islamabad went into effect. However, the first round of Tehran-Washington negotiations failed to reach an agreement. Iran insists that any ceasefire with the US must include a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
A truce between Tel Aviv and Beirut was announced on April 17, but Israel violated it by conducting several deadly attacks on Lebanon. The situation remains tense as Iran continues to assert its control over the Strait of Hormuz and demands a comprehensive ceasefire. According to Mehr News Agency, Rezaei's warning underscores Iran's stance that it will not tolerate further escalation in the region.
