Iran's industry minister meets Pakistani PM in Islamabad

Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday, as the two countries seek to strengthen economic and trade cooperation. The meeting was attended by Pakistan's ministers for commerce, petroleum, maritime affairs, finance, and economic affairs.

During the Joint Trade Committee meeting held earlier in the day, the Iranian minister and Pakistani officials committed to finalizing a bilateral free trade agreement in the near future. The two sides also agreed to expand direct contacts, increase exchanges of business delegations, and improve the effectiveness of their barter trade mechanism.

Furthermore, they decided to establish joint committees to enhance the management of border markets and boost bilateral trade in agriculture, livestock, transportation, and logistics. The discussions underscore the mutual interest in deepening economic ties between Iran and Pakistan.

According to Mehr News, the meeting and the Joint Trade Committee session reflect ongoing efforts by both nations to enhance their economic partnership. The report added that the commitments made during these talks are expected to pave the way for stronger trade relations.
