In a statement released on Thursday, Iran's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned what it described as a massive attack by the United States on Iran last night. The ministry warned that Washington would be to blame for the dangerous consequences of its warmongering.
The statement said: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the crimes of the terrorist regime of the United States in its massive attack on Iran last night and emphasizes that the responsibility for the very dangerous consequences resulting from this (warmongering) lies with the ruling body of the United States."
It added that the US attacks were a gross violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, and rendered the April 8, 2026, ceasefire practically meaningless. The ministry also accused some regional countries of allowing the US to use their territory and facilities to prepare and carry out aggressive operations against Iran, placing them on the side of the aggressors.
The Islamic Republic of Iran recalled the legal and moral commitment of all countries in the region to prevent the US from using their territory for aggression, and emphasized its determination to neutralize the origin of aggressive attacks in line with its inherent right of self-defense.
The statement further noted the joint responsibility of all UN member states to oppose the violation of the UN Charter by the US and the Zionist regime, warning that silence and inaction would drive the world towards chaos and insecurity. It also highlighted the legal duty of the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General to clearly state the facts, criticizing vague statements that encourage aggressors to continue breaking the law.
According to Mehr News, the statement was issued in response to what Iran described as a fresh US aggression. The report did not provide further details on the nature or scale of the attack.
