Iran's envoy criticizes 168 days of global silence over Minab school attack

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, strongly criticized the international community's silence over the attack on a school in Minab, southern Iran, which occurred 168 days ago. He described the incident as a "black day in history" and accused international organizations and governments of closing their eyes to the tragedy.

Jalali wrote, "It has been 168 days since that fateful Saturday, and the calendar still marks a bloody tally." He said each day represents a new wound, symbolizing "each of the 168 white-winged doves of the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school" in Minab, whose dreams were turned to ashes by the brutality of Tomahawk missiles. He added that these 168 days are the silent yet living cry of 168 children, to whom international organizations and governments have closed their eyes.

The ambassador expressed that the sorrowful grief of those empty seats and the loss of innocent lives will never grow old. He posed the question of how the world can remain silent in the face of such an obvious crime, stating that the Minab school laid bare the story of child-killing in American human rights.

On February 28, a joint US-Israeli missile attack targeted the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of 168 students, teachers, and staff. The incident has been widely condemned by Iranian officials, but has not received significant international attention.

According to Mehr News Agency, Jalali's remarks highlight the ongoing frustration in Iran over the lack of global response to the attack. The report by Mehr News Agency added that the attack is seen as a violation of international law and human rights, and Iran has called for accountability.
