Brigadier General Majid Ebn al-Reza, a senior official in Iran's Defense Ministry, announced that the country's drone production capacity tripled during the recent US-Israeli war. In a post on his X account on Saturday, he referred to remarks made during a joint meeting with the Iranian Parliament's National Security Commission.
"At a joint meeting with the Parliament's National Security Commission, I emphasized: The recent war demonstrated that Iranian elites and investment in advanced technologies constitute the most important pillar of the country's defense might," the general stated. He added, "At the height of the war, not only did defense production continue uninterrupted, but our drone production capacity also increased threefold."
The announcement underscores Iran's focus on domestic drone manufacturing as a key component of its defense strategy. The country has developed a range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for surveillance and combat purposes, which have been used in regional conflicts. The tripling of production capacity indicates a significant ramp-up in manufacturing capabilities during a period of heightened tensions.
According to Mehr News Agency, the general's remarks highlight the resilience of Iran's defense industry amid external pressures. The report by Mehr News Agency added that the statement reflects the importance placed on self-sufficiency in military technology.
