Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has accused the United States of major violations of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries, citing actions in the Strait of Hormuz, the reinstatement of oil sanctions, attacks on southern Iran, and continued Israeli military aggression in Lebanon.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night, Qalibaf listed four specific violations: "1. Violating Iranian adjustments in the Strait, 2. Reinstating oil sanctions, 3. Attacks on southern Iran, 4. Continued Zionist aggression on Lebanon." He emphasized that these breaches will not weaken Iran's resolve.
"The era of bullying and extortion is over. It leads nowhere. We don't fold," Qalibaf stressed in his statement. The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the US over various regional issues.
The MoU, which was signed earlier, aimed to address bilateral concerns. However, Qalibaf's accusations suggest that Washington has not adhered to its commitments. The Iranian parliament speaker did not provide specific details on the alleged attacks on southern Iran or the nature of the "adjustments" in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Mehr News Agency, Qalibaf's comments reflect Tehran's growing frustration with US policies in the region. The report added that the Iranian government continues to monitor the situation closely.
