Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA). He was welcomed at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Gholamhossein Darzi, Iran's ambassador and chargé d'affaires at the United Nations, along with a group of Iranian diplomats.
The Iranian foreign ministry delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, had arrived in New York on Monday evening, ahead of the presidential delegation. Since Tuesday morning, Araghchi has been holding bilateral meetings with counterparts and international officials.
During his visit, Pezeshkian is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly session and set out the Islamic Republic of Iran's positions. He will also hold meetings with some heads of state attending the UNGA.
In addition to his official diplomatic engagements, Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold separate meetings with Iranians residing in the United States, as well as with American elites and think tanks.
The report by Mehr News Agency added that the visit includes both multilateral participation at the UN and a series of bilateral and outreach meetings on the sidelines of the assembly.
