The General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command issued a statement marking 31 Shahrivar and Sacred Defence Week, according to Mehr News. The statement recalled the eight-year Sacred Defence as a period when the Iranian nation, relying on faith and unity, created an impenetrable barrier against military aggression by the Baathist enemy and withstood political, security and economic pressures from Eastern and Western superpowers.
The statement said the Iranian nation overturned conventional military and strategic calculations and imposed an irreparable defeat on what it described as global arrogance and the proxy forces of the American system of domination, namely Iraq's Baathist regime, without losing any territory. It added that in the current situation, Iran's armed forces, relying on God, public support, indigenous knowledge and strategic self-reliance in defence industries and modern military technologies, have changed security equations in favour of the Islamic Ummah and the Iranian nation by inflicting heavy losses on the military-security infrastructure and strategic interests of America and the Zionist regime in West Asia.
The statement said the Iranian nation, after inflicting heavy blows on American and Zionist enemies, will also powerfully impose another defeat on what it called the black record of global arrogance in the face of hybrid attacks, especially economic, cognitive and media wars. The General Staff and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command commemorated the memory of the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and the martyred leader of the Ummah, Imam Khamenei, and paid tribute to all martyrs, veterans and their families during the eight-year Sacred Defence and the second and third imposed wars. They renewed their allegiance to the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.
According to Mehr News, the statement was issued to mark 31 Shahrivar and Sacred Defence Week, which commemorates the Iran-Iraq war. The statement did not provide specific details on recent military actions or incidents, but reiterated Iran's stance against external pressures and its reliance on domestic capabilities.
