Iran warns of retaliation after Trump threatens nuclear site

The headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement warning that the United States had threatened to attack Iran's nuclear and other sensitive facilities. The statement added that if the US military carries out such an operation, Tehran will consider it an expansion of the war. In the event of such an attack, all US interests, as well as those of its allies and supporters, would become targets of what it described as a powerful response by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The statement was released hours after former US President Donald Trump said the United States would soon target one of Iran's nuclear facilities. Trump's remarks were made during a press conference, though he did not specify which facility. The Natanz enrichment facility, a key site in Iran's nuclear program, is among the potential targets.

Iran's nuclear program has been a point of contention between Tehran and Washington for years. The US has previously imposed sanctions and carried out cyberattacks against Iranian nuclear infrastructure. Iran maintains that its nuclear activities are peaceful and for civilian purposes.

According to Mehr News Agency, the Iranian statement emphasized that any aggression against Iran's nuclear sites would be met with a decisive response. The statement also warned that the US and its allies would bear full responsibility for the consequences of such an attack. The report by Mehr News Agency added that the Iranian armed forces are prepared to defend the country's sovereignty and vital interests.
