Iran and Uzbekistan pledge to deepen bilateral ties in presidential phone call

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Tuesday, during which both leaders emphasized the need to deepen friendly and brotherly relations and expand cooperation across various fields, according to Mehr News Agency.

President Pezeshkian stated that Iran is determined to strengthen ties with Uzbekistan through joint efforts, describing relations with neighboring, friendly and like-minded countries as a priority of Tehran’s foreign policy. He called for broader cooperation between the two countries and closer ties between their peoples, stressing the need to utilize existing capacities to enhance bilateral relations.

President Mirziyoyev said relations between Tehran and Tashkent are steadily expanding across different areas, emphasizing Uzbekistan’s determination to further strengthen bilateral cooperation through diplomatic exchanges and consultations. He also praised his Iranian counterpart’s efforts to promote peace, stability and development amid what he described as a sensitive and complex regional and international environment.

The Uzbek president stressed the importance of increasing diplomatic contacts and exchanges between the two countries to advance their shared interests. He also congratulated President Pezeshkian on his birthday and wished him health and success in carrying out his presidential responsibilities. In addition, he asked the Iranian president to convey his greetings to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.

The phone call reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Iran and Uzbekistan, with both sides expressing a shared will to deepen ties. According to Mehr News Agency, the conversation underscored a mutual commitment to expanding cooperation and maintaining regular high-level contacts.
