In his weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh stated that it is important for Iran that the United States adheres to its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and compels the Zionist regime (Israel) to implement the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries.
Baghaei also referred to the 7th of Tir, the anniversary of the use of chemical weapons in the Iranian city of Sardasht by the former Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein. He described this event as one of the humanitarian disasters of the 20th century and held responsible all those who aided Saddam in conducting chemical attacks.
The spokesman emphasized that relations between Iran and Iraq remain strong, noting that Iraq stood in solidarity with Iran during the war of aggression imposed by the US and Israel against Iran.
According to Mehr News, the briefing also covered other topics, but the report was being updated at the time of publication.
