SaveIran Urges UK Not to Conceal Its Role in West Asia Insecurity
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei responded late on Thursday to remarks by British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, who had labeled Iran's defensive actions as "aggression." In a post on his X account, Baghaei stated that the UK government cannot conceal its destructive role in spreading insecurity in West Asia by deflecting blame.
Baghaei emphasized that "the chaos engulfing our region is the consequence of unlawful interventions, including those backed or contributed to by the UK." He criticized Miliband for portraying Iran as the "aggressor" after what he described as two rounds of unlawful aggression against Iran in just nine months, even as Iran pursued negotiations. Baghaei called this a "grotesque reversal of victim and aggressor" and said it "marks yet another low in the UK's long record of hostile campaigns against Iran."
He further compared the situation to portraying Nazi Germany as a "defender of peace" while casting the UK and its allies in WWII as the aggressors, calling such a portrayal absurd. The exchange highlights ongoing tensions between Iran and the UK over regional security issues.
According to Mehr News, Baghaei's remarks underscore Iran's rejection of UK criticism and its insistence that external interventions contribute to regional instability.
