Iran warns of firm response to US attacks on residential areas

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned recent US attacks on residential areas in Iran, vowing a firm response to what he described as "savage crimes." In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Baghaei said that the United States' "catalogue of atrocities" against the Iranian nation is now complete, referring to an attack on a residential home in Kuhestak, Sirik, where families were celebrating a wedding. He stated that more than 50 innocent men, women, and children were martyred or wounded in the attack.

Baghaei linked the Sirik attack to previous strikes in Minab, Lamerd, Qeshm, and other locations, as well as attacks on military targets that were justified with "deceptive justifications." He warned that the normalization of bombing is more dangerous than the bomb itself, and that silence in the face of such acts can turn into legitimacy.

The spokesman stressed that Iran will respond to these "savage crimes" with firmness. He also criticized governments and international institutions that remain silent or seek to justify such acts, saying that their silence is not neutrality. "When unlawful attacks and brutal crimes are whitewashed for political convenience, the line between condemning a crime and normalizing it disappears," Baghaei wrote.

He added that those who remain silent today will not be immune to the consequences tomorrow, and that turning a blind eye to injustice does not contain it but only emboldens the perpetrators. The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States over the latter's attacks on Iranian targets, including nuclear facilities and other military sites. According to Mehr News Agency, the statements were made in response to the latest US aggression on Iranian soil.
