IRGC adviser says Iran will respond to any new attack beyond its origin

Hamidreza Moqadamfar, an adviser to the commander-in-chief of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Iran would confront any new aggression using new models, according to remarks reported by Press TV and carried by Mehr News. Speaking on the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran, which Iran refers to as the "Den of Espionage", Moqadamfar said Iran's response would be "disproportionate" and would have no geographical or time limits.

"Our responses will no longer be proportionate or commensurate; we will set their assets ablaze—beyond the point of attack, and regardless of time or location," he said. He added that if Iranian commanders are targeted, "they should expect the annihilation of their own commanders and leaders." The remarks were presented as reflecting a new military doctrine of Iran's armed forces outlined recently by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Moqadamfar said this year's anniversary comes as US military forces have been pushed out of the region and are suffering several defeats. "The enemy's hollow power has collapsed, and their military prestige has been severely damaged," he said, citing the downing of 56 advanced American drones as evidence.

Referring to the 2026 US midterm elections, Moqadamfar said the outcome was "not merely the defeat of one party by another; rather, it served as a major referendum against Trump's policies," and claimed Iran played a key role in bringing about that defeat. He said global hatred toward US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has risen significantly and that their policies have failed "even in the electoral arena." According to the report, the Israeli prime minister and his allies lost their parliamentary majority following the October 27 elections, while in the United States Democrats won control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The results were described as reflecting public anger over rising living costs, controversial tariffs and Trump's war against Iran, which the report said sent fuel prices soaring.

According to Mehr News, the comments were made at a speech marking the anniversary of the embassy takeover, which took place less than a year after the 1979 Islamic Revolution toppled the US-backed Pahlavi monarchy.
