Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Tuesday that the administration is pursuing a "peace with dignity" while maintaining that the country will defend its national interests and territorial integrity against any aggression. She made the remarks during her weekly press briefing, according to Mehr News.
Mohajerani said the government's top priority is addressing the livelihood of the country's people, stating that the administration is obligated to resolve livelihood-related issues for people from all walks of life. She said all government officials believe that people's livelihood should be taken seriously as a top priority and that the matter is currently being pursued by the administration.
The spokesperson referred to economic pressures stemming from wars imposed on the country, which she described as the 12-day and 40-day wars, including rising prices, various threats and an economic blockade. She said these issues have significantly eroded the purchasing power of some households, adding that effective steps have been taken to address the problems facing the people.
On foreign policy, Mohajerani emphasized the need to safeguard national interests and pursue a dignified peace, saying the government is seriously pursuing peace and will make its utmost efforts to protect the country's national interests. She said safeguarding national interests and protecting territorial integrity are among the government's top priorities.
She stated that pursuing a "peace with dignity" does not mean disregarding the necessity of defending the nation, and that the Islamic Republic of Iran will vigorously defend its national interests and territorial integrity against any aggression with utmost power.
The briefing also touched on the economic impact of the conflicts, with the spokesperson acknowledging pressure on household budgets while pointing to government measures in response. The report by Mehr News added that the spokesperson reiterated the administration's focus on livelihood issues as its foremost concern.
