Iran and Thailand have potential to expand ties, Pezeshkian says

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that Iran and Thailand have high potential to expand their relations across all fields, during a meeting in which he received a copy of the credentials of Thailand's newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sake Nopthaisong.

Pezeshkian expressed hope that the ambassador's tenure in Iran would pave the way for further expansion of ties and cooperation between the two countries. He stressed the vast potential for developing relations and said ties could be expanded in economic, scientific and technological fields. He also noted that, from a historical perspective, the bonds between the two nations could be further strengthened.

The president highlighted the role of ambassadors in developing relations between nations, stating that their important role lies in establishing and facilitating trade ties, strengthening solidarity and interaction among nations, and paving the way for sharing the capacities and capabilities of the two countries.

The newly appointed Thai envoy said it was a source of honor and pride for him to have come to Iran, describing it as a land of great civilization, and to begin his mission there. He said he had been tasked by the King, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Thailand to further develop the friendly and understanding-based relations that exist between the two countries.

Nopthaisong described increasing the volume of trade between the two countries as one of his most important diplomatic missions, emphasizing that he would do his utmost to achieve this goal.

According to Mehr News, the meeting took place as the new Thai ambassador formally began his diplomatic mission in Tehran.
