Mohammad Ali Amirfakhrian, Iran's trade attache in Tajikistan, announced that the two countries will carry out joint agricultural projects. He referred to a specialized meeting with managers of Tajikistan's Ministry of Agriculture, where capacities for cooperation were reviewed. These include seedling production, livestock breeding, veterinary medicines, fisheries, processing industries, modern irrigation, mechanization, and investment in the agricultural value chain. The discussions emphasized the continuation of expert consultations.
According to the Trade Development Organization of Iran (TPO), studies show that Tajikistan's agricultural sector has significant needs in seedling production, livestock breeding, development of related industries, increasing water resource productivity, and modernization of production technologies. These needs align with the technical capabilities of Iranian companies.
Amirfakhrian highlighted that developing cooperation in seedling production, industrial animal husbandry, animal breeding, production of veterinary drugs, and investment in agricultural lands were key topics. The Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan welcomes expansion of cooperation with capable foreign companies. He added that continuing expert discussions, exchanging technical information, introducing private sector capacities, and holding specialized meetings will help identify joint projects and develop long-term cooperation.
He also mentioned the preparation and publication of a booklet in Russian and Tajik languages to introduce Iranian agricultural companies, organizations, and capabilities, which would facilitate trade cooperation. However, he emphasized that any cooperation or investment will be subject to technical, economic, and legal studies and procedures. According to Mehr News, these discussions are part of identifying cooperation capacities between the two countries.
