Iran and Armenia agree to accelerate bilateral agreements at UN General Assembly

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA). During the meeting, Pezeshkian said that following up on bilateral agreements, particularly those related to regional transit routes, is a top priority for his administration.

The Iranian president stressed Iran's determination to honor its commitments and said Tehran would make every effort to advance the implementation of bilateral agreements and expand cooperation with Armenia. He described the follow-up of these agreements as a central focus of his government's foreign engagement.

Pashinyan, for his part, called for accelerating the implementation of the agreements. He said that faster progress would contribute to the development of regional countries and help promote peace and stability. The Armenian prime minister's remarks underscored Yerevan's interest in advancing the agreed projects.

The meeting took place on the margins of the annual UN General Assembly session, where leaders and senior officials gather to discuss international and regional issues. The discussions between the two sides focused on bilateral ties and regional matters, including transit connectivity.

Both sides emphasized the importance of moving forward with the agreements. The Iranian president reiterated Tehran's readiness to expand cooperation with Armenia, while the Armenian prime minister highlighted the benefits of timely implementation for the wider region.
