Iran and Russia discuss expanding judicial cooperation at SCO prosecutors meeting

Iran's prosecutor-general, Hojjatoleslam Wal-Muslimeen Movahedi Azad, is in Russia to attend a meeting of prosecutors-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). During the visit, he met with Igor Krasnov, chairman of the Russian Supreme Court, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA).

In the meeting, Movahedi Azad expressed gratitude for the support and sympathy extended by the Russian government and people, particularly senior Russian political and legal figures, to the government and people of Iran during what he described as the recent imposed war. He also declared Iran's readiness to exchange experience with Russia on the use of new technologies in judicial proceedings and courts, with the aim of protecting public rights.

Both sides stressed the development and expansion of judicial cooperation between the two countries. Krasnov, for his part, referred to the growing relations between Iran and Russia in political fields, as well as meetings between the presidents of the two countries. He described legal consultations as a factor that strengthens bilateral relations.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the SCO prosecutors-general gathering in Russia. The SCO is a regional political, economic and security organization whose members include Iran and Russia, among other states. According to Mehr News Agency, the discussions focused on deepening judicial ties and sharing expertise in the application of new technologies in the legal system.
