Iran and Russia audit bodies agree to expand cooperation

A high-level Iranian audit and parliamentary delegation visited Moscow on Wednesday at the invitation of Boris Yuryevich Kovalchuk, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of Russia. The delegation was led by Seyed Ahmadreza Dastgheib, head of the Supreme Audit Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran (SAC). During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

Dastgheib outlined the measures Iran has taken to digitize audit processes and leverage modern technologies and smart solutions to enhance efficiency. He emphasized the continuation and expansion of specialized meetings between experts from both countries to facilitate the exchange of experiences and the development of specialized knowledge in government auditing.

Kovalchuk welcomed the Iranian delegation and highlighted the significance of friendly ties between the two nations. He stressed the importance of cooperation and experience exchange in detecting irregularities, optimizing processes, reducing costs, and managing and mitigating financial risks. He also shared the experiences of the Accounts Chamber of Russia in these areas.

Turning to the sanctions affecting both countries, Kovalchuk emphasized the necessity of expanding cooperation between Iran and Russia to counter the impact of what he described as illegal sanctions. He stated that deepening bilateral relations and cooperation is of particular importance under such circumstances.

The visit underscores ongoing efforts by Iran and Russia to strengthen institutional ties in areas such as government auditing and financial oversight. According to Mehr News, the meeting focused on practical measures to enhance bilateral cooperation and address shared challenges.
