Iran reserves right to retaliate against any aggression: FM Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has reiterated that Iran reserves the right to retaliate against any acts of aggression. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ministerial meeting, Araghchi emphasized that Iran is not the initiator of any war, but any act of aggression against Iran will make the origin a legitimate target for the Iranian armed forces.

Araghchi urged the SCO to take a stronger role in defending multilateralism and international law. He warned that interference in the Hormuz arrangements undermines security in the strategic waterway. The top diplomat also highlighted that the deprivation of Palestinians of basic rights in Gaza is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

According to Mehr News, Araghchi stressed that regional security depends on not using double standards. The Iranian foreign minister called for the SCO to support a just and fair international order. The meeting continues with further discussions on regional and global issues.
