Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday evening Tehran local time that Iran is prepared to give diplomacy another chance if the United States provides strong evidence of a sincere desire to build trust and reach a just solution.
In a post on his X account, Araghchi wrote: "Iran is prepared to give diplomacy another chance if we see strong evidence of a sincere desire by US to build trust & reach a just solution." He added that if the United States chooses war over diplomacy, it "will certainly result in an even greater strategic failure."
The remarks by Iran's top diplomat set out a conditional opening toward renewed diplomatic engagement while also warning of consequences should Washington opt for confrontation. The statement did not specify what steps or assurances Tehran would regard as evidence of sincerity, nor did it detail any timeline for possible talks.
Araghchi's comments come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with the Iranian foreign minister referring to the possibility of war and to what he described as a choice between diplomacy and conflict. The post was published on his official X account and was reported by Mehr News Agency.
According to Mehr News, the foreign minister's statement was issued in a social media post on Wednesday evening Tehran local time and included both the offer of another diplomatic opportunity and the warning about the consequences of war.
