Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks in Tehran on Monday, according to Mehr News. During the meeting, the two officials emphasized the need to finalize agreements aimed at expanding bilateral relations between their countries.
Naqvi extended an invitation to Momeni to visit Pakistan, the report said. The meeting is the latest in a series of contacts between the two sides, as Pakistan's interior minister has made several trips to Tehran since Pakistan began its mediation efforts between Iran and the United States.
On his most recent previous visit, on August 10, Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, security chief Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Momeni. Those meetings took place as part of the same diplomatic track.
The Monday talks between Momeni and Naqvi focused on completing pending agreements and strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest. No further details of the discussions were provided in the report.
According to Mehr News, the meeting underscored the continuing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad, with Pakistan acting as a mediator in contacts involving Iran and the United States.
