Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington. The meeting, held at the Iranian Interior Ministry, focused on regional security, border cooperation, and bilateral relations.
According to sources, Naqvi carried a message from Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei. The content of the message has not been disclosed, but it is believed to relate to the current situation in the region, including the Israeli aggression in Gaza and the peace talks between Iran and the United States.
This is Naqvi's second visit to Iran in recent weeks, underscoring Pakistan's role as a mediator between Tehran and Washington. The visit comes amid heightened tensions following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets in Syria and the ongoing nuclear negotiations.
During the meeting, both ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism and drug trafficking along the shared border. They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the need for regional stability.
According to Mehr News, the Pakistani minister's visit is part of a broader effort by Islamabad to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the US. The report added that Pakistan has historically played a mediating role in the region and continues to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
