Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, leading a political-legal delegation, met with Oman’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Badr Al-Busaid in Muscat. Araghchi expressed gratitude for Oman’s message of sympathy and the presence of its parliament speaker at the ceremony honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He emphasized Iran’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with Oman.

The Omani foreign minister reiterated his country’s principled stance on using diplomacy to prevent regional tension escalation. He expressed hope that full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States would improve regional security.

The two ministers discussed Tehran-Muscat bilateral relations across various fields and regional developments, particularly the Strait of Hormuz. They exchanged views on 'appropriate mechanisms' for safe passage of ships through the Strait, in line with Article 5 of the Islamabad MoU, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s readout.

According to Mehr News, the meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to continue consultations on the matter.
