Iran will not give up on Strait of Hormuz: Ayatollah Larijani

Speaking at the beginning of the Expediency Council meeting on Sunday, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani declared the failure of the United States and the Zionist regime to achieve their goals, which included toppling the Iranian government, dividing the country, and destroying its armed forces, missile power, and nuclear technology.

Ayatollah Larijani stated, "The Iranian nation and armed forces are standing at the Strait of Hormuz, and the sovereignty of this waterway is with the Islamic Republic. We will not retreat regardless of any cost. The Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war status. If they want free navigation, they must comply with the terms of the memorandum of understanding."

His remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz being a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. The statement underscores Iran's firm stance on its territorial waters and its insistence on the enforcement of international agreements.

According to Mehr News Agency, the comments were made during the Expediency Council session, highlighting the regime's resolve in the face of external pressures. The report added that the Iranian leadership remains committed to safeguarding its strategic interests in the region.
