IRGC Navy Chief Says Iran Will Confront Violating Vessels in Strait of Hormuz

The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, General Ali Ozmaei, said that Iran will not shy away from dealing with vessels that violate rules in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a report by Mehr News Agency.

General Ozmaei stated that if the Americans want to determine whether the Strait of Hormuz is open or closed, they should enter the violated route in the strait. He said that combatants from the IRGC Navy and the Armed Forces are present on the battlefield, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people who have risen up against what he described as US and Israeli aggression.

The commander reiterated that Iran will deal with violating vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. His remarks were reported by Mehr News Agency (MNA).

The statement comes amid ongoing tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which a significant portion of global oil shipments passes. The IRGC Navy has previously issued warnings regarding foreign naval presence in the region.

No further details were provided in the report regarding specific incidents or vessels. The Mehr News Agency report did not specify when or where the commander made the remarks.

According to Mehr News Agency, General Ozmaei emphasized that IRGC Navy and Armed Forces personnel remain deployed and ready alongside the public in the face of external pressure.
