Iran military spokesman rejects CENTCOM commander's claim on Strait of Hormuz

Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, the senior spokesman for the Iranian armed forces, has dismissed a claim by the commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the Strait of Hormuz. In his statement, Shekarchi described the claim as "a failed psychological operation to boost the morale of the exhausted and fatigued forces of the terrorist U.S. army in the region and to justify America's exorbitant financial and human costs." He added that the claim did not reflect reality and could not alter what he described as the aggressive U.S. military's withdrawal from the region.

Shekarchi referred to regional developments and emphasized that "the initiative in the Strait of Hormuz remains firmly in the hands of Iran's powerful armed forces." His remarks were reported by Mehr News Agency (MNA).

The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically vital waterway through which a significant portion of global oil shipments passes. Tensions in the region have been a recurring point of contention between Iran and the United States, with both sides periodically issuing statements about military presence and control in the area.

According to Mehr News, Shekarchi's comments were made in response to recent assertions by the CENTCOM commander. The Iranian spokesman's statement reflects the ongoing rhetorical exchanges between Tehran and Washington over influence and military posture in the Persian Gulf region.
