Iran condemns German FM's remarks on Hormuz Strait

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh strongly criticized the German foreign minister's recent remarks regarding the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on his X account, Baghaei described the German minister's rhetoric as "utterly shameful" and a "grotesque distortion of reality," comparing it to the character Mephistopheles in Goethe's Faust.

Baghaei further stated that Germany must be held fully accountable for its complicity in military aggression against Iran and must bear the heavy costs of its active participation in what he termed the "crime of aggression." He emphasized that no amount of offensive posturing would allow the Berlin regime to evade responsibility for its role in what he called an "illegal war" and "war crimes committed against the Iranian people."

The remarks come amid ongoing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which a significant portion of the world's oil passes. Iran has previously warned against any threats to its security in the region. According to Mehr News Agency, the spokesman's comments reflect Tehran's strong opposition to foreign interference in the Persian Gulf and its determination to defend its sovereignty.
