Iran has completed the South Pars Gas Field Phase 11 development project, which had been delayed for years due to breaches of commitments by international partners, including France's Total and China's CNPC. The project, located on the Persian Gulf border, was finalized using domestic technical expertise, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA).
With the completion of technical operations on the final well at offshore location B, gas extraction capacity in this sector has reached its nominal ceiling of one billion cubic feet per day. This achievement is expected to curb pressure decline in the shared reservoir and contribute to the stability of the national gas supply network during cold seasons.
The South Pars Gas Field is considered one of Iran's most complex energy projects, with significant geopolitical and technical sensitivities. The completion of Phase 11 marks a milestone in Iran's efforts toward engineering self-reliance in the energy sector.
According to MNA, the project's completion was made possible by relying on domestic capabilities after years of delays and unfulfilled commitments by international partners.
