Iran Foreign Ministry Urges Dialogue, End to Siege in Yemen

Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the situation in Yemen, reiterating what it described as Tehran's principled and consistent position on the need to respect Yemen's independence, national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to end what it called the illegal and inhumane siege of the country.

The ministry said that what is currently happening in Yemen cannot be separated from the developments of the past decade. It described the Yemeni people as heirs to a long civilisation and history who have always played a decisive role in the region and the world, and said they have the right to live with dignity, free from pressure, intimidation and unjust siege, with their national sovereignty and territorial integrity fully respected.

In its statement, the ministry emphasised the need to consider the interests of the Islamic Ummah, particularly as West Asia faces what it described as unprecedented oppression and expansionism by the Israeli regime with U.S. complicity. It argued that resolving issues related to Yemen through continued siege and military alignment is not possible.

Iran called for the immediate resumption of dialogue based on the agreed road map and the implementation of its provisions, and expressed its readiness to offer any good offices in that direction. The statement did not specify which road map it was referring to, nor did it name the parties it expected to return to talks.

The comments come amid ongoing regional tensions involving Yemen and its neighbours, including Saudi Arabia, and continued attention to the role of Ansarallah in the country. The ministry's remarks were carried by Mehr News, which reported that the statement focused on diplomacy and dialogue rather than military means. According to Mehr News, the ministry framed its position as consistent with its long-standing calls for respecting Yemen's sovereignty and for a negotiated path forward.
