SaveIran Condemns US Military Attack as Ceasefire Violation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned the military attack by the US army in the early hours of Saturday, June 6, on coastal radar and surveillance facilities in the Sirik region and Qeshm Island. The ministry stated that these facilities are tasked with protecting the security of the country's borders and ensuring the safety of shipping in international waterways. The attack was described as a clear violation of the ceasefire reached on April 8 and a military aggression against Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministry characterized the action as heinous and part of continued hostile and provocative behavior by the US against Iran, demonstrating disregard for fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. In response, Iran's armed forces, exercising their inherent right to self-defense, gave a proportionate and effective response, preventing the aggressors from achieving their goals.
The statement noted that the repeated violation of the ceasefire by the United States proves that the US government lacks the will to reduce tensions and return to stability, instead posing serious risks to regional security through adventurous actions. The ministry held the US government responsible for all consequences and any possible escalation of tensions.
Iran's Foreign Ministry called on regional countries to observe good neighborliness and adhere to the principle of refraining from allowing aggressors to use their territory for planning or carrying out aggressive actions against Iran. It also urged UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the UN Security Council, and other international bodies to respond immediately and effectively to the continued flagrant violation of the ceasefire and the illegal US action that threatens regional and international peace and security.
According to the statement, at 01:30 AM on Saturday, four tankers attempted to exit the Strait of Hormuz without coordination with the IRGC Navy and ignored warnings. After warnings were issued, one tanker was struck and stopped, while the others turned back. At 02:00 AM, US drones struck two IRGC telecommunications towers, one on Qeshm Island and one in Sirik.
