Iran FM Araghchi Congratulates New Hamas Political Bureau Chief

Hamas announced on Monday the election of Khalil al-Hayya as the head of its political bureau. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent a congratulatory message to the new Hamas political bureau chief.

In his message, Araghchi stated, "I would like to emphasize the continued firm support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the legitimate struggles of the Palestinian people to be freed from the occupation, apartheid, and colonialism of the genocidal Zionist regime."

The congratulatory message underscores Iran's longstanding backing of Hamas and the Palestinian cause. Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas figure, has been involved in the group's political activities and negotiations.

According to Mehr News, the message was conveyed through official diplomatic channels. The development comes amid ongoing tensions in the region and continued Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
