Brigadier General Alireza Elhami, commander of the Iranian Army's Air Defense Force, announced that Iran is developing new air defense systems that have no recognized foreign equivalent. He stated that the new designs are gradually being turned into operational products.
During a statement, Elhami highlighted that Iran's air defense force deployed part of its indigenous systems during the 40-day war, which contributed to downing more than 200 enemy aircraft. He emphasized that the enemy's limited knowledge of the specifications, capabilities, and operational methods of these systems is one of their key strengths. In some cases, the enemy did not know which system had struck its projectile and lacked a precise understanding of how to counter it.
The commander explained that the new air defense systems will undergo completion stages after entering the field and undergoing performance evaluation. Once legal and technical processes are completed and the designs reach the required level of readiness, the new systems will enter the production and replication phase.
According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), these developments underscore Iran's ongoing efforts to enhance its domestic defense capabilities. The report did not specify the timeline for the full deployment of the new systems or provide additional technical details.
