Iran Intelligence Ministry dismantles three Takfiri terrorist cells in Sistan and Baluchestan

Iran's Ministry of Intelligence announced that it has dismantled three cells of a Takfiri terrorist group in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan and in Hormozgan province. According to the ministry, the cells were identified in the counties of Iranshahr, Sarbaz, Saravan, and Zahedan, as well as in Qeshm city in Hormozgan, in cooperation with the Hormozgan Province General Department of Intelligence. The operations took place before the cells could carry out any acts of sabotage or terrorist activities.

During clashes with security and intelligence forces, two of the terrorists were killed, while ten other members of the teams were arrested. The ministry stated that the terrorists had undergone military, bomb-making, and assassination training abroad and had entered Iran with the aim of causing destruction and instability. They were reportedly stationed in safe houses but were apprehended thanks to public reports and the cooperation of the Law Enforcement Forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. Significant quantities of military-grade weapons and ammunition were discovered and seized from the arrested individuals.

In a separate operation, the intelligence and forces of the provincial Department of Intelligence succeeded in dismantling two organized gangs that were disrupting public order and security. Five armed criminals were arrested along with a quantity of weapons and related equipment. The ministry did not provide further details about the gangs or the exact timing of the operations.

The report by Mehr News added that the dismantling of these cells and gangs is part of ongoing efforts by Iranian security and intelligence forces to maintain stability in the region. The provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan and Hormozgan have previously seen activities by militant groups, and Iranian authorities have frequently announced the arrest or elimination of such cells.
